Meeting with Commissioner for Gender Equality of Cyprus

On May 15, Karine Sujayan, Head of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, met with Josie Christodoulou, Commissioner for Gender Equality of Cyprus, in Nicosia.

The parties discussed issues related to the promotion of gender equality and opportunities for strengthening cooperation and exchange of experience between the relevant institutions of Armenia and Cyprus.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on possible avenues of cooperation in the international arena, emphasizing contemporary challenges, including cyber violence, online harassment and gender-related discrimination in the digital sphere.

Both sides highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation on matters of mutual interest, stressing the need to further promote women’s leadership, strengthen the protection of women’s rights and empowerment, and encourage inclusive participation of women in public and decision-making processes.
